The playoffs have arrived.
I have to be honest, I get a little bit numb to fantasy football throughout the regular (fantasy) season. I can only sit cross-legged on my living room floor screaming for Brandin Cooks so many times, and, by Week 10 or so, I'm just drifting along. Obviously I'm doing everything I can to win and build a strong squad, but the visceral "take no prisoners" mentality starts to fade a bit.
That is, until playoff time.
Plenty of you have never met me face-to-face, but I'm generally a very calm person, at least externally. I really don't get above a 5/10 in terms of being outwardly emotional - in a positive or negative fashion. One exception to that rule is golf: when I play golf, I may as well be a borderline psychopath. Something about being so consistently below average at a sport I've "played" since I was 11 just really gets under my skin.
Anyway, the point here is that I'm a crazy person during the fantasy football playoffs. All of that numbness and gradually-augmenting lack of interest disappears in an instant once they blow the final whistle in Week 13. My happiness until next August depends solely on how these upcoming three weeks go. That's healthy right?
I mentioned this on Twitter the other day (@DonaldGibsonFF), but I really do appreciate the trust that many of you put in me, even if it's just for my opinion to validate what you're thinking. I'm sure plenty of you also turn into crazy people this time of year, and I'm more than happy to be crazy with you.
Now, as the kids say, lettuce get this bread (or something like that).
